source: mikebairdHere is another article from Life…Your Way blog on photo organizing.  This hits home with me since I have two kids of my own and I have been creating scrapbooks for them since they were born.  My youngest one, in particular, loves to sit down and flip through the pages of a scrapbook and ask questions about that time in his life.  A tradition that I have started (since there is so much blood, sweat and tears put into each and every album) during the holiday season is to set the scrapbook out from the year on the coffee table.  I pick a particular evening before Christmas and we go through the album as a family.  It is a great year in review and brings up a lot of memories.

Take what you can from this article with the time that you have and do your best…

We all take photos of our kids, and show them off to friends and family. However, when was the last time you stopped to consider what photos your child wants or needs to see?

Pictures tell your kid’s stories.

Our boys have lifebooks that we pull out and enjoy as a family two or three times a year. These books have the stories and photos of their adoptions. The books offer an opportunity for discussion, normalize adoption language, and reinforce our family values.

Even now that our boys are getting older and don’t always want to snuggle in our laps, it still gives us time to be a family and remember those special things that make our family unique.

Everyone is on this earth at this time for a reason. Don’t let clutter keep you from fulfilling that destiny. What are some of the things that you would like to do that you are putting off because of the struggle you are having with clutter?

If your house were organized and lovely, would you:
- participate in a more active social life?
- become more active as a volunteer to help others?
- take more time for reading, reflecting to refresh your soul?
- spend more quality time with your family and friends?
- use your home to show hospitality both for visitors and overnighters?
- dedicate yourself to a spiritual ministry
- some other important activity?

Think about what is important to you and set some priorities. You only go around once, why worry about the clutter!

There are so many aspects to what a Professional Organizer does for their clients.  I wanted to share some of those with you so that you have a better idea of what we do on a regular basis for our clients.  Here we go…

  • Save money when you know where your things are
  • Create a system for your coupons and clippings so that you can save money while you are out and about shopping.
  • Create a home office file system where you can find important papers easily.
  • Design and organize closets, basements, garages to maximize storage.
  • Organize your kitchen so you can cook nutritious meals.
  • Designate logical homes for everyday items, like keys, so you don’t waste valuable time searching for them.
  • Find solutions for storage and maximize space.
  • Work with children and children’s belongings so they can play and work without having to search for toys and supplies.
  • Keep track of your appointments, events and projects.
  • Decide what things are the best to keep when downsizing.
  • Design personalized paper management solutions.
  • Adopting recycling systems so you can help the environment.
  • Sell the things you don’t need any longer through channels of consignment.
  • Help you consider if donations are a better use of your time and itemize those donations so that you get the tax credit.

These are just a few of the things that we help our clients with on a regular basis.  It is this along with managing the clutter and creating systems that will work with you and your lifestyle!  Remember, no two jobs or client’s challenges are the same.

What A Professional Organizer Can Do!

This was a great blog that I ran across today that I thought I would pass along (along with the credit).  Her name is Lorraine Musing and you can read more of her ”Get Organized!” blog at http://www.getorganized.ws/Blog/tabid/102/EntryId/8/How-can-a-Professional-Organizer-Help-Me.aspx

“People call a Professional Organizer for many different reasons.  Some call when life has gotten too overwhelming and tasks have mounted so high it’s difficult to breathe.  Others call when they need to regain precious time they are wasting from lack of systems and order.  Then you have those people who have just gotten behind in their responsibilities; they don’t have time and they just need some extra help.
Either way, an organizer’s overall goal is to create systems, plan your space and show you the secrets of how to do a task more efficiently; thus saving you lots of time, stress and frustration.
It’s not as simple as you think.  Knowing how different personalities function and how they interact within a household can be challenging.  An organizer has to be familiar with products available on the market, the flow of a room, systems for filing and easy retrieval and a way to keep the client on track even after an organizer leaves.
Depending on the qualifications, each organizer can specialize in different types of organizing: electronic, hoarders, family management, arts and crafts, home-based businesses and more.  It’s important to know what you want.  Do you want an organizer to just get you organized and leave or do you need someone to show you how to stay organized and do the work as well?
Having an organizer teach you to stay organized takes more coaching and many times requires more than one appointment for coaching.  These appointments for coaching last for usually an hour. Hopefully, they will be the highlight of your day as you begin to understand how to use your time management skills.
Organizers usually charge by the hour and prices range from $30 an hour to $100 an hour.  The price depends on their experience and if they are an individually owned company or have several organizers within a company, which can keep the hourly cost down.
Hiring an organizer can truly change your home and life.  If you allow the organizer to evaluate all the areas of your life from delegation of responsibilities in the home, mail, bill paying, your calendar and time management; an organizer can find out what you need and really make some great changes in your life and the life of your entire family.”
