Kitchen Tips
January 14, 2011
Here are a few tips to help you spend less time in the kitchen and more time doing the things that you enjoy!
1) Make sure that the utensils that you need and use on a regular basis are at your fingertips.
2) Minimize the number of dirty dishes by using three-in-one containers. These are containers that can go from the freezer, to the oven and then to the table.
3) Before you start making a large meal, fill the sink half way up with warm soapy water. This way you can drop the utensils, pots and pans in as you go and clean up is a cinch when you are done.
4) To save time unloading the dishwasher, think about how you load it. For your utensils, place all of the spoons in one divider, forks in another and knives in still another divider. When it comes time to unload them, it will be a cinch to grab them and put them away.
5) To unload your dishwasher efficiently, put items away that go to a particular cabinet or drawer before tackling another cabinet or drawer.

Kitchen “One Motion” Storage
November 19, 2010
Whenever you are working in the kitchen, you should be able to reach your ingredients, mixing bowl, utensils and serving dishes that you use all of the time without having to move anything else to get to what you need. This is known as “one motion” storage. If you find that you have to move too much stuff around while you are working in the kitchen, then make a conscious effort to re-arrange these items. All of your day-to-day items should be right within reach or handy in a utensil holder on your counter top for ease and efficiency with working in the kitchen.
