Holiday Shopping Tips

November 24, 2010

This is something that I have done for years and it takes some of the stress out of your holiday shopping.  On my most successful years, I have been done with my shopping (except for my immediate family) before Thanksgiving!

1)  I use vacations to find fun and interesting gifts for everyone.  I stash them under my bed and add them to “my list” of gifts.

2)  Start early. Start as early as you can picking up a few gifts along the way so that you can feel like you have made head way.

3)   Keep a list. Having a list makes the process easier. Add ideas for each person on the list throughout the year, especially when you hear them mention something they’d like to have.  There is a great holiday  “hit list” on http://www.familymanager.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1.  You will need to go to “free” on the left and then you will see several free forms on the bottom of the page.  You will have to register your information to be able to download the form, but there are several fun forms available also for download.

 4. Set a spending limit. Know how much you can spend for holiday gifts and stick to the spending plan.

 5.  Buy in quantity. If you can buy the same gift for a teacher and a coach, do it.

These are great tips to use every year.  Start early, plan ahead and make it easy on yourself.  Happy Holidays!
