Bill Paying Tips
November 15, 2010
Unfortunately, paying bills is a routine for all of us! What is important is to make it as painless and as efficient as possible. The last thing that you want to do is incur late fees and interest charges if you can help it! Here are a few tips to streamline your efforts:
1) Stand over the trash/recycling as you open the mail.
2) As you open up the bills, check that the charges are correct. If there is anything questionable, take care of the charges as quickly as possible.
3) Remove all advertisements and bill stuffers and toss them into the recycling if they are of no interest to you.
4) If you pay your bills twice a month, organize your bills in a desktop sorter that has two slots. The first slot is for the bills that are due on the first of the month and the second slot is for the bills that are due on the 15th!
5) If you want to maximize your funds, send your payment in just before the due date. You can have them completed beforehand and write the date that you want to mail them in the postage area. When the time comes, put a stamp on the envelope and you are good to go!
6) When you are ready to pay your bills, just grab the stack that is in the designated slot. You will avoid having to sort through your bills a second time to find the ones that are due.
